Wild wonders from the Botanischer Garten

Over the weekend, we explored the vast plant world at the Berlin-Dahlem Botanischer Garten. In keeping with Berlin's tradition of constant self-improvement, it was partially under construction. :) However we could still access the main areas, so we had a great time there.

We were lucky to go there with Susie K, who was visiting from the USA. It's safe to say we all enthusiastically enjoyed seeing and smelling these amazing plants. After meandering through connecting greenhouses of desert and rain forest ecosystems, we wandered a bit through the outdoor gardens. I say only 'a bit' as there are 30 hectares of green space to explore. That's about 74 acres!

The best way to share the experience is through photos of these exquisite plants, so this post is mostly images. Hope you enjoy them.  Highlights included: fish ponds, a waterfall, carnivorous plants, honeysuckle, cactus, palms, ferns, and proteas.  Everything was thriving and creatively displayed.

If you decide to visit there at any point, here's the website: http://www.bgbm.org/en
