Things are different here.

Just some notes, from my perspective:

- People wait to cross the street, and don't seem too upset about that. Cars have the right of way, expect for bicycles, which are supposed to get special treatment. There are bike lanes on both streets and sidewalks, so look out!
-Also no right turn on red, ever.
-Bread is extremely popular. Bread is actually quite a diverse 'food group'...:)
-When white asparagus is in season, expect to enjoy it often.
-Even on sections of the autobahn where there are no posted speed limits, people generally drive well. When they don't there are apparently steep fines.
-Washing machines are very compact, semi-complex and run on LONG cycles. It's a commitment; once running you can't open the lid and just toss more in. Dryers are a rarity.
-The English word 'gift' means poison in German. So avoid saying that one brings gifts to their children. :[
-Ok, that's it for the moment.
