Anniversary/Hochzeitsjubilaen

Howdy. This past weekend we celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, even though we've been together for nearly 8 years now! Wow, time flies... We enjoyed a great lunch outing to a cute, authentically Berlin restaurant called Butterhandlung. Here's a selfie outside:

We walked there from our apartment through a light rain shower. The menus were constructed from old book covers. Candles created a cozy atmosphere. The walls had a shabby chic effect with paint peeling in just the right spots. Even the bathroom was classy and had fresh wild flowers. It's a fun quirky place worth returning to:

The food was delicious: a wide homemade noodle with ox-tail ragĂș (sorry no pic) followed by a banana-cream dessert with crushed pistachios and coffees.

The next afternoon we browsed the design shops in central Mitte near the Hackesche Hoefe market. Our circuit included a park walk near the Museum Island.

The weather was very cooperative...:) Here's me at 37 weeks, but who's counting!?

Another highlight earlier this week was documenting a mural by American street artist duo, JBAK. Henning and I noticed this growing piece while on our MANY trips to and from Ikea. NPRBerlin had featured these artists as I later learned, and they were in the newspaper. It's an impressive 11-story mural of a human totem. Here's the background story, if curious.

Hope you each are well and enjoying your summer weekends.
