Britzer Garten: Tulip mania!

We recently returned to the luscious Britzer Garten in order to catch the Tulpen/Tulips while still in season. It was heavenly, after we accepted the initial cold weather of a Spring day. It did finally warm up and we were treated to a Fairy Festival. All in all, the day was a success.

Here is the picturesque landscaping:

I was delighted to capture close-ups of amazing tulips in varieties I had not seen:

Along the rim of the garden, they had large scale reproductions of historic paintings and details of those paintings showing tulips in art since the 1700s. Sorry, failed to document that aspect! But you can see it here in Picture 9/10 if you decide to click "Galerie anziehen'.

We also enjoyed the sun of this deck overlooking one of Britzer Garden's many small ponds:

I could not capture an image of the fabulous turtle we saw swimming, but these sheep were easier targets:

That day just happened to be a Fairy Festival...It was fun seeing lots of young girls in floral tiaras and sparkly wings over combinations of jeans/dresses/rain boots etc. It was a family event with tasty food, puppet theater, and nature crafts. The forest fairy herself was so captivating! She silently floated through the crowded garden, making mystical and expressive hand motions and occasionally blowing golden fairly dust on lucky children; perhaps she was on stilts but showed no sign of jolty actions whatsoever. Her she is:

It was a very fine day in one of Berlin's greenest gems.

I leave you with this ode to Tulips, which unfortunately, I cannot translate:

Cheers, dear readers!
