Fall's Foliage

Hi faithful readers! This is a quick post to update you on the change of seasons in Berlin.

I've snapped some pictures while on walks with friends and Frieda. [There's just not a lot of free time for documenting/blogging, at least for now...]

There are still quite a lot of green leaves but there's also a distinct color shift and a nip to the air.

There's a tree here with little 'castanette' seed pods, that are apparently popular with kids. We collected some of the shiny brown kernels that are housed in hard shells, broken open here:

The light at this time of year is really picturesque.  This is a street near us that has a greenway right down the middle. Makes for nice walking.

We recently returned to Volkspark Friedrichshain, right beyond the hospital where Frieda was born. This time I discovered how expansive the park really is! Here are a few scenes, featuring foliage. People really get out and about on the weekend, especially by bike. I'm tempted to follow suit with stroller and try to read /sit outdoors if we get another warm day...

Finally, here are two church steeples adorned by trees:

Wishing you all a festive fall season...

  1. Love these photos Ellie. The greenway down the middle of the street is fabulous as is the park behind the hospital where darling Frieda was born. Autumnal light is the best, I think.
Sending much love and all good wishes.
    Love,
    Auntie C.
